Gas Safe

In the United Kingdom, the Isle of Man, Jersey, and Guernsey, the Gas Safe Register is the sole official gas registration authority for gas firms and engineers.

The Gas Safe Register is required by law for all gas enterprises.

Only a valid and current qualification allows a gas engineer to be matched to a registered business and be awarded a licence to perform gas work on behalf of a registered firm.
This proof of competence is limited to gas safety and is obtained by every engineer through a recognised training and assessment process.

On April 1, 2009, the Gas Safe Register took over as the sole gas registration body in the United Kingdom and the Isle of Man, and on April 1, 2010, it took over in Northern Ireland and Guernsey.

Registration is only granted if the company employs at least one competent gas safety engineer.
